frequently asked Questions
How long will my appointment take?
I am in and out of your home in less than 30 minutes.
Does it make a mess?
Not at all. I provide a pop-up tent that catches any extra spray. Your home will be left untouched.
Will I be orange or yellow?
No, I use a solution which utilizes zero orange or yellow pigment. The color has no hint of orange! The solution is completely brown and bronze to guarantee a completely naturally looking tan. Ask for the "primer/ph balance" application to obtain the best color for your skin type ($3 up-charge).
Is it blotchy or uneven? Does it look fake?
No, it will be even and completely natural tan! One coat is applied completely custom to your body. I am a certified specialist that is trained to spray you evenly with the perfect amount of solution at the right pace. After your spray is complete, I check your tan to make sure everything is perfect and touch-up anything that is not. I also have you look at yourself to make sure that the tan is exactly what you wanted. A second coat can be applied to darken color. It is a natural, golden, even colored tan every time.
What do I wear?
This is completely up to you. You can go completely naked (preferred as there are no tan lines) or wear old undergarments or an old bathing suit. I also provide disposable thongs if preferred. The solution does not stain clothes and comes out once laundered. Make sure to remove all jewelry prior to your spray tan and wear loose fitting clothing immediately after.
How long do I have to wait to shower?
Preferably not until the next day - but at minimum 8 hours, 12 hours is best. It takes at least 8 hours for the solution to fully be absorbed into your skin. After being airbrushed, wait at least 8 hours before showering and doing any activities that will result in perspiring (ie: exercising, outdoor chores, etc), or choose 1-HOUR RAPID and be able to rinse in 1-4hrs. 1-HOUR RAPID is a $5 upcharge. For your first shower, rinse with lukewarm water and do NOT use soap. Pat dry with a towel instead of rubbing.
Is it okay to sleep in my spray tan?
Yes. Many clients prefer to sleep in their tan. If you are sleeping with the bronzer on your skin and allowing your tan to develop overnight, it is best to wear loose long sleeved pajamas (pants and shirt) and lay a towel over your pillow to prevent any bronzer transfer, although the bronzer does come out of sheets once laundered and will not continue to transfer after your first shower.
How long does the tan last? How can I make it last longer?
The tan can last up to 14 days but normally ranges from 7 - 10 days. It all depends on your skin type, how well you treat your spray tan after, and your daily activities. The less often your skin gets wet and is rubbed against, the longer your tan will last. Moisturizing daily and avoiding exfoliation will make your tan last longer. After showering, make sure to pat dry with a towel instead of rubbing. Avoid soaps that throw off pH balance (Dove, Dial, Nivea, Ivy, **especially Dove**) and essential oils or heavy fragrances as these will all strip the tan. Instead, opt for tan friendly soaps (Aveeno, Puracy, Love Beauty & Planet, Cetaphil).
If I am tanning for a special occasion such as a wedding or vacation-when is the best time to get my spray tan?
The best time to get a spray tan for a special occasion/vacation is either the night before or two nights before. If you are going on vacation we suggest getting a spray tan the night before you leave so it lasts throughout your vacation. If your special occasion is for your wedding, we recommend getting your spray tan two nights before so it is settled for your big day. For example, if your wedding is on a Saturday, I recommend making your appointment for Thursday evening. (Don't forget I specialize in bridal parties, ask about party discounts.)
Is it customary to tip the technician?
Sure! If you feel that I did a good job, please feel free to tip.
How should I prepare for my airbrush tan?
You should exfoliate with a water based exfoliate prior to your appointment. Do not use an oil based exfoliant as oil reduces the effectiveness of the tanning solution. Shaving and waxing must be done prior to your spray tan as well. Remember, DO NOT put anything on your skin prior to your appointment. No deodorant, moisturizers, perfume/cologne or make-up.
Mani/Pedis should be done prior, if possible.
What is your cancellation policy or can I reschedule an appointment?
If you need to cancel please contact me as soon as possible. You may cancel by calling, texting, emailing or adjusting your appointment online. Clients will be charged $25.00 for cancellations less than 24 hours prior to appointment time.
If I am pregnant, can I still receive an airbrush tan?
Dihydroxyacetone (DHA) is FDA approved and considered safe as it only penetrates the outermost layer of the skin. There is no evidence that DHA is harmful. However, we do recommend that pregnant women always consult with their physician first.
